Israel claims strike on bunker beneath Khamenei compound in Tehran

Israel has claimed that its air force targeted an underground bunker beneath the compound of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Tehran, as missile exchanges between Iran and Israel intensified.
The Israeli military said around 50 fighter jets carried out the strike on Friday, targeting an underground bunker located beneath the compound of Ali Khamenei in central Tehran.
According to the Israel Defence Forces, the bunker was being used as an emergency command centre by senior Iranian officials following Khamenei’s death.
The military said the strike followed a prolonged intelligence-gathering operation.
Iranian authorities have not issued an immediate official response to the claim.
Missile strike reported at Ben Gurion Airport
Israeli media reported that missiles fired by Iran targeted Israel’s main airport, Ben Gurion Airport, although the Israeli military has not confirmed the claim.
Reports said loud explosions were heard across Tel Aviv and other areas after missiles were launched from Iran on Friday morning, while Israeli air defence systems attempted to intercept them.
The Israeli military said it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israel and activated air defence systems to respond to the threat.
Israeli media reported that one person was injured in central Israel after being struck by falling debris from an intercepted missile.
Since the start of the war with Iran, hundreds of people in Israel have been affected by attacks and related incidents.
Earlier, Israel’s Health Ministry said more than 1,600 people had been treated in hospitals since the war began last Saturday, with at least 11 deaths reported.
Iran launches Khyber missiles
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it fired Khyber missiles toward Tel Aviv on Friday as part of the 21st wave of “Operation True Promise 4.”
The IRGC said the new wave of attacks began with a combined missile and drone operation targeting locations in the heart of Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, Israel said its forces destroyed six Iranian ballistic missile launchers and three advanced air defence systems in fresh airstrikes targeting Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Kermanshah.
