Iran pledges retaliation after US-Israeli strikes on civilians



Iran’s military has pledged a robust response following US and Israeli strikes on residential areas, which Tehran says have killed over 1,300 civilians and damaged nearly 10,000 civilian sites since the conflict began 11 days ago.

Armed forces spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi confirmed the country’s commitment to retaliatory operations, as the region braces for escalating tensions.

37th wave of retaliatory strikes

Iran announced the 37th wave of strikes against Israeli targets, employing the advanced Khorramshahr-4 hypersonic missile, also known as the Kheibar missile.

The strikes reportedly targeted military sites in Jerusalem, US-linked facilities across the region, and a satellite communications centre in Tel Aviv.

Maritime incident in Strait of Hormuz

The UK military reported that a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz caught fire after being hit by an unknown projectile. Crew members are evacuating and have requested assistance, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations.

Drone interceptions in Saudi Arabia

Saudi authorities said their Defence Ministry intercepted and destroyed five drones over the Empty Quarter desert, which were reportedly heading toward the Shaybah oilfield, capable of producing 1 million barrels of crude per day, according to Saudi Aramco.

The ministry also reported intercepting two additional waves of drones in the eastern region of the kingdom.

Security threat in Qatar neutralised

Qatar’s Defence Ministry confirmed that a missile attack, likely launched by Iran, was intercepted, adding that the “security threat has been eliminated, and the situation has returned to normal.”
