Gallup described a process in which a chimpanzee’s egg was artificially fertilized with donor sperm. Similar experiments were being conducted around the world at the time, but only the Americans achieved success.
Several years later, scientists decided to euthanize the resulting hybrid, as its existence violated all existing ethical standards. Currently, several scientific publications, including the authoritative Science Alert, recommend treating Gallup’s claims with skepticism, as no physical evidence was provided.
