First flights from Mumbai’s second airport on December 25

India’s budget airlines IndiGo and Akasa Air have officially announced that their respective flight operations will commence from the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), the country’s commercial capital’s second airport, on December 25, 2025.

IndiGo announced that its flight operations will begin from NMIA from December 25 with domestic air services to 10 cities across India including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Cochin, and Mangalore, from December 25.

IndiGo also said that it plans to expand its operations from NMIA by adding direct routes to more destinations from 2026.

IndiGo already operates more than 2,300 daily flights to more than 130 destinations, including 90 domestic airports.

Meanwhile, Akasa Air stated that it will schedule flights from the NMIA from December 25 to connect directly with four Indian cities.

Akasa Air will operate its maiden flight between Delhi and NMIA on December 25, which will be followed by flights to Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.

The airline stated that it will increase flight operations from NMIA by up to 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures by 2026.
