Kremlin Warns New US Sanctions Would Damage Relations – AL24 News

Any new sanctions would undermine efforts to improve relations between countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, commenting on reports that Washington is preparing additional restrictions against Russia.

“Any sanctions harm the fostering of relations — that is obvious,” Peskov told reporters when asked whether potential new US measures could damage ties between Moscow and Washington and negatively affect efforts to reach a settlement on Ukraine.

His remarks followed a Bloomberg report citing sources who said the United States is preparing new sanctions targeting Russia’s energy sector if a peace deal on Ukraine is not reached. According to the report, the new restrictions could be announced as early as this week.
