A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is included in the Russian leader’s schedule and is expected to take place, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. His comments came after Witkoff indicated that he hoped to hold talks with Putin on Thursday.

“We expect such a meeting tomorrow; it’s on the president’s schedule,” Peskov told TASS. “It will take place tomorrow,” he added, confirming the Kremlin’s expectation that the talks will go ahead as planned.

Earlier, Witkoff told CNBC that he intended to travel to Moscow on Thursday evening and arrive late that night. He also said that entrepreneur Jared Kushner would be accompanying him on the trip, pointing to a potentially high-profile engagement as diplomatic contacts between Moscow and Washington continue.
