Doctor Zhusev advised brushing teeth after eating
Dentist, surgeon, and chief physician of the SkyDent clinic Vasily Zhusev recommended brushing your teeth after eating.
“Otherwise, a plaque consisting of microorganisms forms on the surface of the teeth, which is tightly attached to the enamel,” the expert said in an interview with the website Arguments and Facts.
According to the specialist, after 12 hours the plaque volume increases, an acidic environment is formed in the mouth. This causes demineralization of the enamel, as a result of which it becomes more fragile and vulnerable.
“If you can't brush your teeth after eating, it's a good idea to at least rinse your mouth. As for the claim that brushing your teeth right after eating can damage your enamel, that's an exaggeration. Strong and harsh brushing damages enamel, and the time you brush your teeth doesn't matter,” the doctor added.
Earlier, dentist and member of the Association of Young Dentists Dmitry Lozovoy advised against using folk methods of teeth whitening.
