Doctor Konev spoke about contraindications to contrast showers
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Gerontology and Geriatrics of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education of Moscow State Medical University, cardiologist Yuri Konev spoke about contraindications to contrast showers.
“As a rule, if there are already cardiovascular disorders, such contrasting effects lead to the risk of serious complications. And this is already a vascular catastrophe,” the expert said in a conversation with the Public News Service.
According to the specialist, thermal exposure provokes a response from the vascular system and can lead to a heart attack or stroke.
The cardiologist recommended that elderly people avoid contrast showers and very hot baths.
Earlier, Svetlana Guz, an emergency medical doctor at JSC Meditsina (Academician Roytberg's Clinic), said that a characteristic sign of a heart attack is a specific, pressing pain, which may be accompanied by a burning sensation in the heart area.
