Immunologist Yartseva spoke about the consequences of self-medication with antiviral drugs

Therapist and immunologist Irina Yartseva called the consequences of self-medication with antiviral drugs.

“Often a patient comes in thinking they have one thing, but it turns out they have something completely different. Out of ten people with the same symptoms, ten may have different diagnoses and, accordingly, different treatment,” she said in an interview with the Moscow 24 website.

According to her, the consequences of long-term use of antiviral drugs are still unpredictable.

“But it doesn’t happen without a trace, for example, you can ruin your stomach or intestinal microflora,” Yartseva said.

As the expert added, it is permissible to take antipyretics depending on the situation, and only a doctor can prescribe the rest of the treatment.

Earlier, doctor – allergist-immunologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor Natalya Nenasheva warned against self-medication of asthma.
