The Russian Consulate General in Antalya told RT that the child, whom a Russian woman gave birth to and left in the toilet of Antalya Airport, is undergoing minor treatment, but the baby’s health is not in danger.

“The Consulate General of Russia in Antalya issued a birth certificate and Russian citizenship to the child. The newborn is currently in a local hospital. According to doctors, minor treatment is being carried out, but her health is not in danger. In accordance with the current legislation, the issues of her stay in Turkey are within the competence of the Turkish side, in cooperation with which the Consulate General monitors the child’s condition and works to protect his rights,” the diplomats said.

It is noted that they are also ready to assist in establishing guardianship or trusteeship over him to the guardianship and trusteeship authorities, which are responsible for these issues.

“It is also worth noting the role of the Parish of the Russian Orthodox Church in Antalya, whose representatives visit the hospital where the newborn is located and participate in providing her with the necessary things. At the same time, the Consulate General also receives requests from concerned Russians offering their help, who also express a desire to act as guardians or trustees of the child,” they explained.

As for the future fate of the detained mother and grandmother of the child, this issue will be resolved within the legal framework in accordance with the current legislation, the Consulate General added.

“An investigation is currently underway. The Russian Consulate General in Antalya will continue to keep these issues under priority control and provide maximum assistance in resolving the situation with the newborn as quickly as possible,” the diplomatic department concluded.
