Presenter Malysheva asked the State Duma to return the practice of salt iodization

TV presenter Elena Malysheva on the air of the program “Live Healthy!” on Channel One she addressed deputies and stated that many Russians have iodine deficiency in their bodies. The doctor asked the State Duma to return to the practice of iodizing salt.

Malysheva noted that iodine deficiency leads to developmental problems in children and difficulties in the functioning of the thyroid gland.

The Soviet government solved this problem by adding iodine to salt, but “in the 90s everything was canceled,” the presenter emphasized.

“Today we must eliminate iodine deficiency… State Duma, we are addressing you – it’s official,” Malysheva said.

Natalya Kharchenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, gastroenterologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), previously recalled in a conversation with RT that in the fall you should include seasonal vegetables and herbs in your diet.
