Cardiologist Kuznetsov spoke about the symptoms of elevated blood lipid levels
Alexander Kuznetsov, a cardiologist at the Be Healthy clinic on Sretenka, spoke about the symptoms of high levels of lipids in the blood.
“Hypercholesterolemia is often not accompanied by symptoms, and a person can consider himself completely healthy for a long time. However, sometimes specific external signs may appear,” he said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
According to him, these may be flat yellowish tubercles in the eyelid area, thickening of the tendons, or a lipoid arch of the cornea.
As Kuznetsov explained, such manifestations occur even with serious lipid metabolism disorders.
“In order not to miss hypercholesterolemia, it is recommended to regularly take tests: total cholesterol, and better yet, an extended lipid profile, which includes determining various fractions of cholesterol, in order to more accurately assess the risks and choose the appropriate treatment,” the doctor added.
