Doctor Mukhina spoke about the dangers of excessive use of antiseptics
Infectious disease doctor Mariyat Mukhina warned about the dangers of excessive use of antiseptics.
Frequent hand disinfection can lead to maceration of the skin, peeling of the skin and the appearance of cracks on the hands, the expert said in an interview with Life.ru.
According to the specialist, microorganisms also become more resistant and develop immunity to specialized agents.
“The first thing you can do is replace all products containing synthetic components with herbal ones. Alternatives such as vegetable soap, soap nuts and soap tree are suitable,” Mukhina said.
In turn, the director of the Research Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections, Georgy Vikulov, in a conversation with the radio station “Moscow Speaks”, noted that there are no universal recommendations for the use of antiseptics.
“In ordinary life, it is enough to simply wash your hands with soap. An antiseptic is used when there is a risk of infection,” the expert said.
Previously, expert doctor of the LabQuest laboratory, bacteriologist Vera Serezhina advised not to neglect hand washing, as this is a reliable preventive measure that can protect against many diseases.
