Daily Mail: aspirin and ibuprofen may have a negative effect on potency
British doctor Donald Grant has warned that overuse of over-the-counter painkillers can cause erectile dysfunction in men. He told the Daily Mail that up to half of adult men suffer from some degree of sexual weakness, and one of the reasons may be the uncontrolled use of “harmless” medications.
Grant says common drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen can have negative effects on men's health. Aspirin, for example, thins the blood and impairs blood flow to the penis, which leads to problems with potency. In addition, aspirin often causes gastrointestinal bleeding, especially in older patients.
The doctor added that due to the ease of obtaining and using such painkillers, many people regularly exceed the recommended dose. Grant urges patients not to self-medicate and to take such medications only under the supervision of a doctor to avoid serious side effects, including erection problems.
