Daily Mail: Avocado and coconut oil should not be overused due to excess fat
Coconut oil and avocados should be consumed with caution as these foods are high in fat. British nutritionist Emily Leeming told the Daily Mail about this.
The doctor said that bright green avocados are rich in fiber and healthy fats, which reduce bad cholesterol and prevent the formation of plaque in the arteries. However, even healthy fats can cause weight gain. According to the nutritionist, one medium avocado can contain up to 20 grams of fat and about 250 calories (about the same amount as a candy bar).
Coconut oil is also often touted as healthy, but its high saturated fat content means it's not. Despite the fact that without saturated fats the smooth functioning of internal organs is impossible, their excess can increase cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the risk of heart disease.
The nutritionist noted that a 15ml serving of coconut oil contains about 13g of saturated fat – almost half the recommended daily value of 30g.
