In the light of the discovered critical vulnerability in the WhatsApp security system, which allows you to introduce malicious software on user devices, the expert in information security (infusion) Alexei Raevsky recommends that the Russians temporarily abandon the use of the messenger. This was reported by the publication “Arguments and Facts” (“AiF”).
In an interview with the media, Raevsky noted that to ensure the safety of personal information, it is advisable to temporarily delete the application from the device.
The specialist emphasized that vulnerabilities of the type of “zero day”, similar to identified, differ in high cost and are used in spot attacks aimed at persons owning confidential data. The massive use of these vulnerabilities for fraud seems unlikely.
Raevsky also explained that such gaps in defense are found in all popular applications, and operational correction requires the release of updates by developers.
