Blogger JerryRigEverything tested the black Apple Watch Ultra 2 for durability
Popular tech blogger Zach Nelson published a video on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything in which he tested the strength of the Apple Watch 2 smart watch in the new black color.
The front panel of the watch is protected by sapphire glass, and the back panel is protected by zirconium. Testing with a gemstone tester confirmed the high durability of the materials. Damage was only caused by a tool with a hardness level of seven on the Mohs scale, which indicates that the gadget can be actively used without fear of scratches.
The frame is made of titanium and is damaged only by a self-tapping screw, which leaves barely noticeable marks. However, the coating turned out to be vulnerable to a utility knife and an ordinary key. According to Nelson, the Apple Watch 2 turned out to be much more practical than the iPhone 7 in Jet Black, which is easily scratched even by a coin.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 in black was introduced along with the iPhone 16. This is the same watch that was released back in 2023, and the innovation is a new case color “titanium black” and fresh straps.
