Neowin: YouTube Shorts is testing a new design with a button to save videos

YouTube is testing a redesign of the Shorts section, in which “Save” appears instead of a “Dislike” button. This was reported by the Neowin portal.

The new interface is being tested among a limited number of users. Google noted that the “Save” button makes it easier to add videos to bookmarks, and the “Dislike” button was moved to the main menu of the YouTube Shorts player.

Unlike experimental features for YouTube Premium subscribers, this feature is being tested on a random sample of users.

The purpose of the new button is to encourage users to add more short videos to playlists. Given the fast pace of videos in YouTube Shorts, the add option can be useful for re-watching a video you like.

At the same time, experts also see a drawback in this, which is that the absence of a “dislike” button deprives users of the ability to quickly signal to the algorithm about videos that are of no interest to it.

YouTube Shorts is a section where users can post vertical videos up to 60 seconds long. Starting October 15, YouTube will allow users to publish 3-minute videos.
