CCS Insight: Apple could release a smart ring by 2026
Apple plans to expand its lineup of healthcare-focused devices with a new smart ring. According to CNBC, according to analysts from CCS Insight, this device will become a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
The company is already focusing on health in its products, from the Apple Watch to the latest AirPods Pro, which can act as hearing aids. The smart ring is expected to continue this trend, equipped with sensors to track heart rate, sleep quality and possibly stress levels.
CCS Insight chief analyst Ben Wood emphasizes that Apple CEO Tim Cook actively supports projects related to personal medicine. “The Ring will be a logical step in the development of Apple's health technologies,” Wood said.
Apple is expected to offer deeper integration of the ring with the company's other devices, allowing users to receive health data directly on their watch or phone. Unlike Samsung, which offers multiple sizes and color options for its rings, Apple will likely emphasize its physical retail presence by selling rings in branded stores.
The new product from Apple will most likely be positioned as a stylish accessory that will become a new status symbol for fans of the brand. “Apple is a brand that people are proud of and their ring could be a stylish accessory that people would want to own,” adds Ben Wood.
It is noteworthy that before this there was information that Apple, on the contrary, had curtailed the development of an analogue of the Galaxy Ring. Allegedly, the company fears that a fitness tracker in the form factor of a ring could harm sales of smart watches.
