ITHome: Hyundai will replace dashboards with holographic glass in 2027
The South Korean company Hyundai, together with the German manufacturer of lenses and optics Zeiss, presented holographic displays for car windshields. This innovation involves doing away with traditional screen-based dashboards in car interiors, replacing them with huge holograms on the front glass. This was reported by ITHome.
Holograms on the windshield of a car are not a completely new solution, but Hyundai will be the first company to completely replace the entire dashboard of a car with holograms. There will be no conventional screens in the interior of such a car, and all information will be displayed in the form of a translucent interface on the front glass.
This approach will allow the driver to focus on the road without being distracted by the dashboard. Drivers will be able to customize widgets, displaying only the most necessary information on the glass.
Hyundai has already completed production of a prototype of the holographic windshield and demonstrated it to customers, receiving positive feedback. The company plans to launch mass production and implementation of the technology in cars by 2027.
