Ferra: the latest update for Windows 11 slows down the Internet tenfold
Users who upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 encountered the problem of internet slowdown. Ferra.ru reports this.
So, after updating Windows 11 to version 24H2, users noticed that the data transfer speed via the SMB protocol dropped from the gigabit level to only 100 Mbit/s. This particularly affected owners of WD MyCloud NAS network storage, who noted a sharp decrease in file transfer speeds after the update.
Testing on a virtual machine with the previous version of Windows 11 23H2 showed that in guest mode the speed reached 90–100 MB/s, while on the new version it decreased significantly. User attempts to transfer SMB settings from a previous version of the operating system did not produce any effect.
Microsoft has yet to provide any official comment on this issue, which appears to be related to the update.
The Windows 11 24H2 update has received a wide list of bugs that users are complaining about. Thus, the new version of the operating system causes crashes on PCs with Western Digital SSDs, creates an almost 9 GB non-removable cache on computers, and other failures.
