MacRumors: iPhone 16 users complain about frequent reboots and screen crashes
iPhone 16 users are complaining about the screen freezing and the smartphone spontaneously rebooting. This was reported by the MacRumors portal with reference to numerous complaints on the forums.
Messages about problems began to appear immediately after the iPhone 16 went on sale and continue to appear almost a month later. iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates did not fix the problem, and it continues to occur even after installing new software.
The problem appears randomly: the screen may stop responding to touches, and then the iPhone goes into reboot. Also, some users report cases of rebooting in standby mode, that is, when no one is using the smartphone. Some of the victims contacted Apple, where they were given new devices under warranty, but the problem also appeared on them.
Most of the complaints come from iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max owners. Some users experience up to 10–20 crashes per day.
It is assumed that the problem is related to a bug in iCloud, since after reinstalling the system without restoring the backup from iCloud, the failure does not recur.
