Apple introduced a compact and powerful Mac mini computer with M4 and M4 Pro chips
Apple introduced the compact Mac mini computer, which for the first time since 2010 received an updated design and reduced dimensions.
The new Mac mini features the Apple M4 chip with 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, delivering up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance than the M1 model. A version with the Apple M4 Pro chip (14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores) is also offered.
Apple says the new Mac mini delivers up to 13.3 times faster gaming performance and 33 times faster performance when upscaling images in Photomator compared to the older version with an Intel Core i7 processor.
The company also shared improvements over the Mac mini on the Apple M1 – the new product performs calculations in Excel up to 1.7 times faster, transcribes speech to text using MacWhisper up to 2 times faster and combines panoramic images up to 4.9 times faster in Adobe Lightroom Classic .
Mac mini comes with five USB-C connectors supporting audio, HDMI, and Ethernet. The M4 Pro version supports Thunderbolt 5, while the base model supports Thunderbolt 4. It is also noted that the M4 Mac mini supports up to two 6K displays and one 5K display, while the M4 Pro version supports up to three 6K displays with frequency 60 Hz.
Computers are already available for pre-order at prices starting from $599 (about 52.3 thousand rubles). The Mac mini will go on sale on November 8th.
