Apps bring Larnaca attractions to life
Three new apps have been created to enhance the virtual tourism experience of Larnaca, the local development and promotion board announced on Monday.
The first concerns a virtual tour focusing on the religious route of St Helen and the Holy Cross in collaboration with the diocese of Trimithounta and Kition, and includes historical sites associated with the arrival of St Helen in Cyprus in 327 AD.
Among them are the ancient port of Vasilikos, the area of Tenta in Kalavasos, the community of Tochni with its religious monuments, the monastery of Stavrovouni and the church in Lefkara, where a piece of the Holy Cross is kept.

The second digital app is the 360° virtual tour of the nine picturesque Beekeeping Villages of mountain villages in Larnaca including Vavatsinia, Ora, Odou, Melini, Lagia, Kato Lefkara, Vavla and Kato Drys.
The application presents points of interest related to beekeeping and honey production, such as the Beekeeping and Embroidery Museum in Kato Drys, apiaries and beekeeping trails.

The third digital project, which will be presented soon, the board said, is the 3D virtual restoration of the church of Ayios Athanasios Pentaschinitis in the community of Ayios Theodoros.
The app, developed in collaboration with the diocese of Trimithousa, accurately captures the original form of the church as it was in the 8th century, and provides important historical and religious information, the Larnaca tourism board said.
