Analyst Explains Why Trump and Harris Mentioned Putin at Least 12 Times
Konstantin Blokhin, a research fellow at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Center for Security Studies, told RT that Russia is unlikely to leave the domestic political discourse of the United States. He was thus commenting on the fact that US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris mentioned Russian leader Vladimir Putin at least 12 times during the debates.
“This means that Russia is unlikely to leave the domestic political discourse. If Trump is a supporter of normalizing relations with Russia, a supporter of refusing to support Ukraine, then Harris, on the contrary, is a supporter of protecting the Euro-Atlantic community from “hostile, aggressive” Russia. The topic of Russia's “influence” on the elections, influence on international relations will still be there, regardless of who the candidate is, who wins, regardless of whether we will still be in this domestic political discourse,” Blokhin believes.
In his opinion, this is additional confirmation that Russia is a great power.
“Whether one loves or another hates, it is still an indicator that Russia is being thought of and not forgotten,” the political scientist concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris mentioned Russian leader Vladimir Putin at least 12 times during the debates.
It is noted that Trump mentioned Putin eight times, Russia nine times, and Ukraine six times.
Harris, in turn, mentioned Putin's name four times, Russia twice, and Ukraine five times.
