Sky News: Eight migrants die trying to cross English Channel
At least eight migrants have died off the coast of France while trying to cross the English Channel.
Sky News reports this.
It is noted that 51 people were saved. Six of them, including a ten-month-old child, were taken to hospitals.
In just 24 hours from Friday evening, September 13, about 200 migrants were rescued, according to French authorities.
On Saturday, 801 people arrived on the UK coast via the English Channel in 14 boats, the second-highest number of migrant arrivals in 24 hours in 2024.
Earlier, the British authorities acknowledged after the death of 12 migrants in the English Channel that the situation with the arrival of a large number of illegal immigrants into the country could worsen.
