Former Homeland Security intelligence and counterterrorism official John Cohen said the country faces the most complex, dynamic and dangerous threat landscape in 40 years ahead of the presidential election.
“The 2024 presidential election comes at a time when the United States faces the most complex, dynamic, and dangerous threat landscape I have seen in more than 40 years of law enforcement, homeland security, and national security work,” he told Politico.
Cohen, in particular, noted cyber threats both domestically and abroad.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies are slow to adapt to these changes, he said.
