Lebanon's Civil Aviation Authority has banned pagers on planes

Lebanon's General Authority for Civil Aviation has banned radios and pagers from being carried on board planes.

RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the department’s statement.

“All airlines operating at Rafic Hariri International Airport are requested to notify their passengers departing from Beirut of the ban on the carriage of any type of pagers and walkie-talkies until further notice,” the statement said.

It is emphasized that communication devices are prohibited from being carried in either the luggage compartment or hand luggage.

Earlier in Lebanon, the consequences of the detonation of pagers were compared with the explosion in the port of Beirut.

CNN reported that Israel notified the US of a planned operation to undermine communications facilities in Lebanon.
