NYT: Israel sent Arabic message before detonating pagers in Lebanon
The New York Times reported that Israeli intelligence sent a message in Arabic to the gadgets before detonating pagers in Lebanon.
As the newspaper writes, citing three sources, the message was accompanied by a sound signal.
“Israel turned on pagers and sent them a message in Arabic that appeared to come from Hezbollah's top leadership. Within seconds, Lebanon was in chaos,” the report says.
Earlier, Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abyad said a preliminary investigation into the coordinated attack on the pagers showed that the devices rang before exploding.
Earlier, the Iranian mission stated that the United States, as an ally of Israel, bears responsibility for its actions.
CNN also reported that Israel notified the US of a planned operation in Lebanon.
