State Department: US does not expect contacts between Blinken and Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly

The United States does not expect bilateral contacts between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly high-level week.

This was stated by the official representative of the State Department, Matthew Miller.

“No, we don’t expect this,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying when asked about the possibility of holding such contacts during the briefing.

Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced his readiness to meet with Lavrov during the high-level week on the sidelines of the 79th session of the General Assembly in New York.
