Brandon Van Grack, the lead prosecutor in the case into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. election, told USA Today that the current campaign against Russian media outlets, including RT, is the largest of its kind.
“This is the largest action we have ever seen aimed at disrupting and thwarting an attempt by a foreign government to interfere in a US election,” the publication quotes him as saying.
He also said the move was aimed at “stopping the interference” and “minimizing its impact on the upcoming elections.”
Earlier, The Washington Post, commenting on the situation with RT, wrote that the US authorities are trying to stop attempts to “interfere” in the presidential elections faster than they allegedly did in 2016.
