Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski explained his remarks about Crimea as a “hypothetical discussion”
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, continuing his remarks on Crimea, noted that the proposal to “transfer Crimea to a UN mandate” was only a “hypothetical discussion among experts.”
“At the conference, there was a hypothetical discussion among experts in an informal setting, where we asked ourselves how to implement President Zelensky’s proposals on how to return Crimea,” Wiadomosci writes, citing Sikorski.
During his visit to Kyiv, Sikorski stated that Crimea “could be transferred to the UN mandate” with a mission to “prepare a referendum.” In response, the State Duma proposed transferring part of Polish territory to the UN mandate.
The Kremlin called Poland's proposal absurd.
Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents voted in favor of reunification with Russia.
