Reuters: Lebanon radios that exploded were filled with PETN
A powerful explosive was placed in radio batteries in Lebanon, believed to be pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), sources told Reuters.
“According to the source, the explosive was embedded in the battery pack in such a way that it was extremely difficult to detect,” the agency writes.
On September 17, after pagers were detonated in different parts of Lebanon, 12 people were killed and about 2.8 thousand residents were injured.
The next day, Lebanon was hit by a new wave of explosions that also affected phones and other devices with lithium-ion batteries. Hezbollah reported the deaths of 20 fighters when portable radios detonated.
