IT specialist Polunin talks about ways to protect yourself from mined gadgets
Today, metal detectors, canine services, and artificial intelligence are used to detect mined gadgets in air transport, said Sergey Polunin, head of the infrastructure IT solutions protection group at Gazinformservice.
“Today, in addition to classic tools, AI is also used: it helps identify anomalies in passenger behavior that can serve as a signal for additional verification,” RIA Novosti quotes the specialist as saying.
He made this comment in connection with the recent mass detonation of communications equipment in Lebanon.
On September 17, after pagers were detonated in different parts of Lebanon, 12 people were killed and about 2.8 thousand residents were injured.
The next day, Lebanon was hit by a new wave of explosions that also affected phones and other devices with lithium-ion batteries. Hezbollah reported the deaths of 20 fighters when portable radios detonated.
Reuters sources said a powerful explosive substance, believed to be pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), was placed in the radio batteries.
