Lost cat travels nearly 1,500 km and returns home to the US

A cat named Rainbow traveled almost 1,500 km and returned home from Yellowstone National Park, where she escaped from her owners, who went on a family trip with the animal.

Two months after going missing, the cat made it to California, and then her owners from Wyoming came to pick her up, Sky News reports.

The cat's owners, Benny and Suzanne Anguiano, said they went with Rainbo to an RV park in Yellowstone on June 4, where the animal became frightened and ran into the woods. The owners spent four days searching for the cat and gave up.

In August, the Anguiano family was contacted by the company that produces the chips that the cat was tagged with. As it turned out, the animal was picked up in the Californian city of Roseville and sent to a shelter. The distance that the pet covered from the national park to Roseville is 1,448 km, the TV channel notes.

The next day, the owners arrived in California and safely took Rainbo home. In two months, the cat lost almost 3 kg of weight and injured her paws.
