Health Ministry: 356 people killed in Lebanon due to Israeli airstrikes
In Lebanon, 356 people have been killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes that began on September 23, the Lebanese Health Ministry's Emergency Situations Center reported.
“Among the dead were 24 children and 42 women. At least 1,246 people were injured in the attacks,” Al Jazeera reported.
On September 23, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi announced that the Israeli army was striking Hezbollah's military infrastructure in Lebanon, which had been built over the past 20 years. According to him, the IDF had launched a preemptive offensive operation in the morning.
Amid the fighting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Lebanese residents to leave areas where the Shiite movement's weapons depots are located.
The Economist magazine's sources reported that Israel is preparing to conduct a ground military operation in Lebanon to create a buffer zone in the northern border area.
