The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced support for Russia's right to self-defense in response to Western policies

Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh expressed support for Russia's right to self-defense and protection of national security in response to the hostile policies of the West.

“Syria reiterates that it supports Russia’s right to self-defense and protection of its national security in response to hostile Western policies,” RIA Novosti quotes him during a speech at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

On September 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed in the updated nuclear doctrine to consider aggression against the country by a non-nuclear state with the participation of a nuclear one as their joint attack on Russia.

The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said that the adjustment of Russia's nuclear doctrine is a mirror response to the actions and statements of Western politicians.
