Borrell: EU countries called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to the situation in Lebanon
EU countries have called for an urgent convening of a meeting of the UN Security Council due to the worsening situation in Lebanon.
This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
“Member countries also call for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, and we will make every diplomatic effort to achieve a ceasefire,” TASS quoted him as saying.
In addition, he called for a refusal to escalate the conflict. According to him, “any military intervention will dramatically worsen the situation” in the Middle East.
CBS previously reported that Israel could launch a limited-scale ground operation in Lebanon within a few hours.
