Dzhabarov on the need to “return” Russia to the EU model: this is not decided by Pompeo

First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov, commenting on the statement of former CIA head Mike Pompeo that Russia needs to be “returned” to the European rather than Asian model, said in a conversation with RT that Russia itself chooses where to go move.

“I believe that Mr. Pompeo is generally minding his own business. Russia itself chooses where to move… It is not Pompeo who decides the prospects for our relations with China, they are determined only by our two leaders,” the senator emphasized.

Regarding the statement about Russia’s return to the European path of development, Dzhabarov explained that “there is nowhere to return.”

“What is modern Europe now? This is constant LGBT* propaganda, persecution of dissidents, complete lack of freedom of speech, inciting conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Where should we return and in what capacity? If they want us to return as a raw material appendage, I understand that they want to have stable supplies of Russian energy resources, and at the same time, for Russia to fully operate in the format of European politics. This will not happen,” said the parliamentarian.

According to him, Europeans, first of all, must themselves take a step towards Russia and show that they are ready for equal cooperation.

“And to use us as a younger brother and an eternal student – I think that’s wrong. Therefore, I think that he (Pompeo. – RT ) now wants to remind himself a little about himself. He reminds. But for us this is not fundamental,” concluded RT’s interlocutor.

Earlier, Pompeo, in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov (Vovan) and Alexey Stolyarov (Lexus), said that Russia needs to be “returned” to the European, not the Asian model.
