The intelligence services of Russia and Azerbaijan managed to prevent a provocative threat against the Russian diplomat from the Americans, said the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin.
“Recently, through the joint efforts of the special services of Azerbaijan and Russia, it was possible to prevent a provocative threat against one of the Russian diplomats from the Americans,” RIA Novosti quotes Naryshkin as saying at a press conference in Baku.
As the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service stated, Russia and Azerbaijan are forced to counteract, in particular, the subversive activities of individual government agencies and non-governmental organizations that are dissatisfied with the independent policies of Moscow and Baku.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that some Western countries intend to set Armenia against Azerbaijan in order to keep Baku under constant pressure.
