Former PM Hasina faces multiple murder, genocide charges, complaints filed at ICT
DHAKA, Bangladesh – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has received five more complaints of murder, genocide, and crimes against humanity against a total of 228 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
ICT prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim confirmed the matter to the press, saying the complaints were submitted to the chief prosecutor’s office on Sunday.
Sheikh Hasina and 64 others have been charged with the killings of college students Nure Alam Siddique Rakib and Zubayer on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj Highway on July 20.
Rakib’s father, Abdul Halim, and Zubayer’s father, Anwar Uddin, filed the case on Sunday.
On July 19, Sheikh Hasina and 27 others were accused of killing Maruf Hossain in front of Brac University in the capital’s Badda district. Maruf’s father, Mohammad Idris, filed the case.
Shafikul Islam Sarkar filed the third complaint against Sheikh Hasina and other unnamed suspects in the July 19 killing of his son Faisal Sarkar in the Uttara Abdullahpur district.
Hasina was accused, along with 75 others, in another complaint, of killing Mahfuzur Rahman, 25, on July 19 near the Mirpur-10 crossroads. Mahfuzur’s father, Abdul Mannan, filed the complaint.
Mohammad Amanullah filed another case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 57 others on August 5 for the murder of his 13-year-old son Samiu Aman Nur at the Uttara Azampur Footover Bridge area.
