“If you play for Liverpool, you want big games” – Slot ready for PSG challenge

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hailed Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as “one of the strongest teams in Europe” ahead of their Champions League round of 16 first leg in Paris on Wednesday.
The Premier League leader, which topped the new Champions League group phase, faces a formidable PSG side unbeaten since November. Slot acknowledged the challenge but emphasised Liverpool’s readiness for big games.
“If you play for Liverpool, you want to play in the big games,” Slot said. “We have to accept the draw, and both teams have a tough fixture.”
Comparing styles, he highlighted similarities between the two attacking teams. “Both teams have scored a lot of goals, like to have the ball. There are a lot of similarities.”
Slot was unfazed by PSG boss Luis Enrique’s praise of Liverpool. “It is a nice compliment, but the best team in Europe has to win the Champions League,” he said.
He also lauded Enrique’s impact and PSG’s star forward Ousmane Dembele, who has netted 26 times in 33 games across all competitions this season. “Luis Enrique has done a lot of things here very well. (Dembele) brings quality to the team.”
Liverpool will look to hand PSG its first loss in months before shifting focus to the second leg.
