
PARIS (Reuters) – Twice Grand Slam champion Viktoria Azarenka slumped out of the French Open after Swiss 23rd seed Jil Teichmann battled from a set right down to win 4-6 7-5 7-6(5) and safe a spot within the fourth spherical on Friday.
The Belarusian 32-year-old former world primary, seeded fifteenth in Paris, powered from 3-0 down at the beginning of the primary set after which once more from 4-3 behind to win the following three straight video games to safe the opening set.
Azarenka appeared to be cruising to a snug victory when she broke Teichmann to go 4-2 up within the second along with her highly effective baseline play and steady drop pictures dictating the sport.
But in a reversal of the opening set, it was the 24-year-old Swiss left-hander’s flip to battle again, mixing it up and clinching 5 of the following six video games to power a decider.
Teichmann stored up the stress and, after the pair traded two breaks every, gained the tiebreak following greater than three hours to achieve a Grand Slam fourth spherical for the primary time.
